Poroshenko boasted of cruise missiles

Petro Poroshenko announced that tests of cruise missiles will be completed in Ukraine in the near future, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian President.

“In the near future, final tests are planned, including cruise missiles, as well as high-precision extended-range multiple launch rocket systems,” he said, speaking on Wednesday at a training ground in the Khmelnitsky region, where he observed the flights of Bayraktar TB2 drones supplied Armed Forces of Ukraine by Turkey.

According to Poroshenko, the priority now is to complete the development of new and modernized weapons and their mass production. “In particular, the Vilkha-M and Neptune missile systems, the 155-mm Bogdan artillery systems, the Verba-1 multiple launch rocket systems, the Sokol unmanned reconnaissance and strike system,” he listed.

Poroshenko believes that “Russia’s violation of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty” removes a number of restrictions from Ukraine.

“Now we will be able to produce missiles that will sharply increase the price that the aggressor will pay for his adventures in the event of further escalation of aggression. Now the territory of the aggressor will also become vulnerable,” Poroshenko emphasized.

Poroshenko also noted the “systemic reform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the defense and security sector,” which, in his opinion, contributes to a gradual approach to the standards of the armies of NATO member countries.

“Today in Ukraine there is an army that is capable of protecting our state, which is the guarantor and basis of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of our state,” the head of state emphasized.

Recently, Poroshenko continued, over 23 thousand weapons have been transferred to the army. “And today we are transferring another batch of more than 400 weapons and equipment for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And these steps will continue,” he added.
