Membership of the European Union in Ukraine will take years, not decades, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said this during a speech to students in Kyiv, Poroshenko’s press service reports.
“I am absolutely sure that the date also depends on you... When we all unite together and work hard to change the country, they will have no other choice, because there cannot be a full-fledged Europe and a full-fledged EU without Ukraine . Just as there cannot be a Russian Empire without Ukraine,” Poroshenko said, answering a question about the timing of Ukraine’s membership in the EU.
In the first case, Ukraine is a sovereign independent state with European values, “in the second, Ukraine was destined for the role of a colony under the imperial capital,” he added.
“I am firmly convinced that, having joined forces, I will say this - it is not a matter of decades, but a matter of years regarding our membership,” he said.
