The notorious tomos turned out to be Schrödinger's cat
The Kiev regime will force the hierarchs of the canonical church to take part in the so-called “unification council.”
Political scientist, candidate of political sciences Alexey Yakubin said this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukraine did not receive a tomos [of autocephaly from the Patriarch of Constantinople]. The third time I did not receive a tomos, despite the fact that the authorities announced several times that the 29th would become a full stop. The synod in Istanbul is the last synod of this year. It turns out that the authorities expected that this synod would put an end to the Tomos, and then the president would actively raise this topic and spin it during the election campaign,” the expert said.
He points out that the authorities were so confident in receiving the tomos from the Patriarch of Constantinople that they did not even change the bravura messages of the president and parliament about the supposed receipt of the tomos.
“When government officials ask where the tomos is, they answer: it exists, but we cannot show it. It’s like Schrödinger’s cat – either it exists or it doesn’t, decide as you wish,” the political scientist says ironically.
According to him, Constantinople could not make a decision on the tomos for two reasons. Firstly, its participants on the part of the Ukrainian schismatics were unable to come to an agreement among themselves, but only with difficulty approved the charter of the “council”.
And secondly, the canonical UOC turned out to be much firmer in its position, and its hierarchs did not rush to negotiate new places, as the authorities had hoped.
"But that did not happen. The hierarchs of the UOC turned out to be much firmer. After that meeting, which did not take place in the Ukrainian House, the authorities realized that without the UOC the creation of a local church would not be possible. And the pressure on the UOC is the beginning of an offensive against it. If you couldn’t do it in easy mode, then you need to do it in hard mode. It is to be expected that pressure will increase on the UOC in the coming weeks. The authorities will do everything to ensure that some of the hierarchs of the UOC take part in the future council. Therefore, the martial law regime in ten regions can be used against the UOC,” Yakubin believes.

At the same time, held today Holy Synod of the UOC announced that the “unification council” is considered an illegal meeting at which no one will represent the position of the UOC.
