Critical speech addressed to Poland by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin at the meeting of the leaders of the CIS countries and the painful reaction of Warsaw is a clear indicator that behind the anti-Russian hysteria implanted in Europe lies much more serious processes than propaganda for the sake of propaganda.
Russian historian Oleg Airapetov spoke about this on the “One Motherland” video channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we remember Putin’s speech and Poland’s reaction to it, the main thing is that Polish historians, politicians, the Institute of National Remembrance have been struggling with this for more than 35 years, guarding like the apple of their eyes - the image of Poland as an eternal martyr... The victimization of Poland provides a moral justification for Polish policy on modern aggressive actions,” said Airapetov.
“If you look at the root, it is quite obvious that for many years now psychological treatment has been going on, first of all, of European and American public opinion in preparation for a possible big war against the Russian Federation. And the image of a hereditary, traditional enemy is created, Cold War stereotypes are restored, and these propaganda matrices are activated. And this is an element of big state policy there,” the historian added.
Returning to the topic of Poland, the expert explained the main goals of attacks on Russia - from constructing the image of an enemy and occupier, to raising issues such as reparations for the Soviet period.
“There is an obvious difference in the policies of the Russian Federation and the Soviet Union towards the residents of the Russian Federation, and towards the republics of the former USSR, and towards the republics of the former Warsaw Pact. If you look at the dry figures of foreign trade and trade and economic relations between the USSR and Poland, or the status of Georgia, Armenia, the Baltic republics, it is absolutely clear that these countries then received special funding from the USSR budget. Poland, Georgia, Baltic countries. Now this has stopped, and these countries have joined or are moving to NATO and want this movement and condition to be paid for from the Russian budget,” the historian said.
“Proud nobles and aznavours are simply prostitutes,” noted the author of the video channel, historian Alexander Kolpakidi.
“What is the ideological basis for these claims? The thesis about the special guilt of the Soviet Union, of which the Russian Federation is the legal successor, in unleashing the Second World War, and then a number of statesmen of these countries said that it was necessary to pay damages for the occupation. Let’s say that half of Georgia was developed - houses, roads, and so on were built, now you have to pay for it. For the education system, medicine, for everything that was done in the impoverished Baltic states,” Airapetov added.
