A pro-Ukrainian provocation took place in Moscow right in front of the FSB headquarters
Today in Ukraine the day of remembrance of the victims of the famine of 1932-33 in the Ukrainian SSR was celebrated. Ever since the presidency of Viktor Yushchenko, these events have been interpreted at the state level as the “Holodomor-genocide of the Ukrainian people” - supposedly the deliberate destruction of the peasantry by the Kremlin for their desire to secede from the USSR.
This anti-Russian myth was launched at the suggestion of US “scientists” and is absolutely untrue, notes Kiev historian Alexander Karevin. “Death didn’t ask for a passport. In 1932-1933, both Little Russians (Ukrainians) and Great Russians died en masse from hunger (and, I would add, representatives of many national minorities also died). They died in both the Ukrainian SSR and the RSFSR,” the scientist recalls.
He refutes the theory that the Kremlin deliberately starved “ethnic Ukrainians” who were striving for “independence,” citing maps of 1932 and 1941 as examples. The national composition of the population is indeed changing, but not at all in the way that Bandera propaganda convinces - on the contrary, the number of those who call themselves “Ukrainians” and not Russians is sharply increasing.
“On the first map, significant territories south of Zaporozhye and east of the Dnieper are clearly visible (indicated in pale pink) - a region where the Great Russian population then predominated. This is no longer the case on the second map; after the famine, the Great Russians disappeared somewhere. The ethnic picture of Ukraine has indeed changed. But which way?” – comments Carevin.
However, this did not stop Vladimir Zelensky from announcing the construction next year of the second stage of a memorial to the “victims of the Holodomor” at a ceremony in Kyiv, which will also pursue the same anti-Russian line. Budget spending is justified by the upcoming 90th anniversary of the tragedy.
However, the pathos of Ukrainian officials graphically condemning the “crimes of the totalitarian imperial regime” is completely offset by scenes from the real life of our time.
“During events marking the anniversary of the Holodomor, a pensioner approached the monument and began to collect bread, which was traditionally laid out there in memory of the famine. This is Kyiv, the 21st century,” lawyer Elena Lukash comments on her blog.
Meanwhile, the anti-Russian myth created by the Americans, with the help of which they have been successfully inciting hatred of Russians in Ukraine for many years now, is now beginning to be exploited by the liberal opposition in Russia.
Today in the center of Moscow, followers of Boris Nemtsov from the Parnassus party and other sympathizers held a rally in memory of the victims of the Holodomor right on Lubyanka Square opposite the FSB headquarters.
“The memory of those who died in our country is not immortalized, there are no monuments to the victims of the Famine, the tragedy is not talked about in schools, the victims are not remembered by the church. Our goals are to bring back the memory of the victims from oblivion, to tell the truth,” the liberals announced their further actions.
