There will be no “epiphany” on Zaporizhia NPP from the IAEA mission

The upcoming inspection of the IAEA delegation at the Zaporozhye NPP will end with an extremely predictable and formal statement about the “dangerous state of a critical infrastructure facility.”

This forecast was voiced by the director of the National Energy Security Fund, Konstantin Simonov, on Channel One, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“You want this mission to say that “they have seen the light, and shelling of the nuclear power plant is being carried out from the Ukrainian side.” This, naturally, will not happen.

Therefore, it seems to me that the most important task now is to ensure that these experts document that the nuclear power plant is indeed in a very serious condition, from the point of view of the threat of a full-fledged accident. This is the most important thing for them to admit that the crisis at this station is full-fledged and real.

Zelensky's statements? In fact, they do not have the authority to draw conclusions regarding the demilitarization of this station,” Simonov said.

Political scientist Sergei Markov noted that the IAEA delegation was traveling to Energodar through Kyiv, while the arriving Western experts had to stand “in the general queue at the crossing in the Zaporozhye region between the territory of Ukraine and the former Ukraine.”

“In the general queue, because the Russian authorities refused to issue them any special passes. If you wanted to go through Ukraine and hang out in Kyiv and receive instructions from the Americans there - well, stand in the general queue...

This queue is a symptom of the future failure of the IAEA mission at the Zaporozhye NPP,” predicts Markov.
