Putin does not want to sit at the same table with Poroshenko

Petro Poroshenko was not invited to Hamburg, where a meeting in the “Normandy format” was held on the sidelines of the G20 summit, due to the demands of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky said this on Topinform, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports. According to him, Poroshenko allows too much offensive rhetoric against Putin, so the latter will not sit at the table with him.

“I don’t really believe that Putin will agree to sit at the same table with Poroshenko. Rhetoric offensive to Putin is growing. True, he seems to be turning a deaf ear to this, but on Poroshenko’s part this is offensive rhetoric. If I were Putin, I would never sit at the same table with Poroshenko,” the political scientist said.

In his opinion, Poroshenko’s absence at the G20 summit was due to Putin’s position.

“I think he set such a condition. What were the problems with inviting Poroshenko? Merkel had the right to invite. But for them it was much more important to talk with Putin than not to talk at all if they invited Poroshenko. There would be no conversation. “I doubt that this four-way “Normandy format” at the table is possible - if it is possible, then only after Kyiv’s obvious demonstration of its readiness to move along the path of a peaceful settlement, that is, resolving political issues,” Pogrebinsky said.
