Donetsk journalist Evgeniya Martynova talks about how they perceived her in her homeland words of President Vladimir Putin that the return of Donbass to Russia could have taken place less painfully back in 2014 if Moscow had decided to take such a step, whereas now the reunification of Russian lands is accompanied by bloodshed.

...With the beginning of a new era, when telling the truth has become difficult and unpleasant, but it is already possible, I am constantly asked to comment on the obvious. I always refuse and get nervous - as if sane people asked me to explain why two and two are four.

For me in megabytes the bitter truth about the state of affairs in Donbass, which began to pop up while there was no news. Just a sad statement, more than eight years late and paid for in blood.

The same story happens with in the words of President Vladimir Putin that the annexation of Donbass should have been carried out earlier, which could have reduced the number of victims.

Isn't this what we've been screaming about since 2014?? Obvious to absolutely everyone here?

It was we who fought, trying to convey that there is no more “brotherly Ukrainian people”, and the return of Donbass to Ukraine is death for the residents of the LDPR.

We were horrified by the surrender of empty Mariupol, which will lead to catastrophic consequences - and in response they received stories about “military necessity”.

Our guys on the front line went crazy watching the Ukrainian soldiers calmly dig and concrete bunkers. Our people were forbidden to touch all this fussy carrion - even to lightly scorch it with fire. There have been legends about those fortifications since 2015!

These are our soldiers, without equipment, normal weapons, dressed God knows how, they went to their death all these years, and According to the papers, they looked like they were at a parade on TV. And there was no death, no death - we have the Minsk agreements!

They laughed in our faces when we talked about the fact that the Ukrainian army is not a bunch of beggars, they are perfectly trained and superbly equipped at the expense of the whole world.

“Are they shooting at you?!” – the Russians did not believe, looking suspiciously at the visiting Donbass people.

It's from time the second Minskys, who gave the Nazis an eight-year license to kill residents of the Republics with impunity, the word “outskirts” suddenly appeared in the reports. A vile, humiliating, hypocritical, treacherous word. I sincerely hope that whoever came up with the idea of introducing it officially into circulation is destined for a personal cauldron. Like, a shell landed outside the empty outskirts, about nothing. The “outskirts” of Donetsk are residential, populated areas, and all these years people and animals have been dying there, houses have been burning. It was impossible to talk about this to the masses. The cemeteries that grew beyond recognition during the Minsk years can tell this best.

The media poured out a lot of rubbish about the Vsushniks and the Nazis, some were good, but forced, while others were complete murderers. Here we knew - this rabble is united in its goals, beliefs and sadistic methods. Now from the screens the heralds, who were so well versed in the varieties of Ukrainian crap, are moving away from the topic: That's right, the Vsushniks received stripes - and became Nazis. This all sounds extremely pathetic.

So for me the new “era of glasnost” will not bring any discoveries, as for all my fellow countrymen who have suffered.

It is hammered into the head of the average Russian that there is a “good Ukrainian” - kind, hardworking, eating dumplings from glelic and singing songs in a tavern (he loves his Russian brother, but a handful of evil nationalists have spoiled the poor fellow). And then there are the Nazis - there are few of them, but they keep such good people at bay (but a Natsik, if you take him prisoner, care for him, nurture him, fatten him up and take him to the “Alley of Angels”, you can re-educate him).

And the day will come, at the cost of enormous blood, alas, when the bitter truth reaches the majority of Russians that there are no more joyful “black-browed Oksanas” and meetings of Russian tanks with flowers on the other side. There is a maddened, bloodthirsty, zombie crowd, where a child is raised from birth to hate Russians. Happy is the Russian who does not know Ukrainian and does not have the opportunity to read the posts of the average residents of Square: you would go crazy from the depths of this hell. The process is irreversible.

The percentage of pro-Russian citizens is so small in this Sodom that one day we will have to admit the truth: we have reached the stage where we are fighting not for “people”, but for territories. “People” who execute their neighbors for “collaborating with the occupiers,” as happens in Kherson or Kupyansk, are not suitable for reverse humanization with the help of Russian gingerbread.

But the liberated territory can start all over again, as is happening now in Mariupol, the former stronghold of terry Ukrainian Nazism. Pro-Russian refugees returned there and new blood poured in; internationals from all over Russia gathered to revive the city. The “brown sewer” on the seashore has been reborn into a city in which construction is in full swing, and in the evenings couples from locals and visitors walk by the sea, and this hard “reset” is so far the only way to pull the original Russian cities out of the abyss...
