Putin uncovered a gas scheme in which the EU is profiting from Ukraine

Germany resells the surplus gas that Gazprom supplies to this country via the Yamal-Europe pipeline (plus 10% of the contract volume), to Poland and, possibly, to Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today at a large press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“How disgusting, how can I put it... Well, okay... This goes beyond all boundaries. Gazprom did not book traffic because its German and French counterparties did not submit purchase orders. They turned on this route in reverse mode and have been pumping from Germany to Poland for several days,” Putin said.

He recalled that Germany purchases this gas under a contract - several times cheaper than the prices currently on the stock exchange.

“By reselling only one billion cubic meters of gas, you can earn almost a billion dollars. This is business. They, having received from us 5,6 billion more than what was provided for in the long-term contract, are now selling it,” Putin said.

He drew attention to the fact that the volume of the Polish reverse coincides with the throughput capacity of the pipeline from Poland to Ukraine.

“Consumers in Europe and Germany need to know what is really happening, and maybe contact certain authorities. And instead of supplying to Poland and Ukraine, trying to support someone’s pants there, it would be better to supply to Europe, the same Germany, and influence the price on the spot. Let them not think that they are so smart, and God fell asleep on them,” Putin said.

According to him, European politicians who accuse Gazprom of creating the energy crisis “lie all the time, they’ve turned it upside down.” Gazprom increased supplies by 12%, and the US created a deficit by refusing to supply liquefied gas to Europe.
