Zelensky’s rating hit the “critical barrier” with a bang

Over the past month, the number of Ukrainians who approve of the actions of their President Vladimir Zelensky has decreased by nine percent of the total number of citizens of the country.

This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS), a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Assessing the actions of the authorities in May-June of this year, 38% responded that they approved of the actions and statements of President Zelensky (in May – 47%); 45% do not approve (in May – 37%). The difference between the share of those who approve of the president’s actions and statements and the share of those who disapprove has become negative for the first time over the past year and amounted to minus 7 percentage points,” the report says.

The ratings of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada for the corresponding period remained consistently low. 59 percent of Ukrainians do not approve of the activities of the government, 62 percent of the parliament.

In addition, the researchers reported that since the end of May, the share of Ukrainians who do not support Kyiv’s cooperation with the IMF has increased by 15 percent (from 46% to 61%).

Also, when asked about what language to serve in snack bars and restaurants, 41 percent of Ukrainians answered that there must be service in Russian throughout the country, 27 percent - it is mandatory in Ukrainian and in Russian in regions where the majority of the population wants it. And only 25 percent - to serve only in Ukrainian throughout the country.

The results of the study were commented on by the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management.

“The KIIS poll (and not only) demonstrates the electoral turning point that occurred for the president in June.

What is especially interesting is that the number of voters who fully support the President fell by 2,5 times: from 25-23% to 10% - this is the core of the electorate.

Anti-ratings of the government and parliament are about 60% - the possibility of accumulation of negativity is reduced.

So “peace, corruption, tariffs” came back to haunt us, as well as “land reform” and “memorandum with the IMF” (public opinion is definitely against it).

Now it will become more difficult to make decisions and, even more so, to implement them - a “critical barrier” is being formed - a social filter for automatic critical perception of the actions of the authorities,” experts state.
