Republika Srpska rebelled against Western overseers
The People's Assembly of Republika Srpska voted in favor of legal action against the institution of High Representatives for BiH for repeated violations of the Dayton Agreements.
This is how the Bosnian Serb parliament responded to the West’s intention to extend the functions of the Office of the High Representative (OHR).
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, the People's Assembly of the Republic of Serbia instructed the government of the Serbian entity to form an international team of lawyers to file a lawsuit against the High Representatives for violation of the Dayton Agreements and the Constitution of BiH. It was also stated that the RS would consider “initiating negotiations for a peaceful division in BiH if negotiations between the two entities and the three constituent peoples do not bear fruit.”
“The time has come to close the OHR, and responsibility for the future and functioning of BiH must become the exclusive right and competence of the inhabitants of BiH,” the People’s Assembly said in its conclusions. Also, members of the Bosnian Serb parliament believe that BiH should take responsibility for its own development in accordance with the Dayton Agreement and international law, but “if this is not on the agenda soon, negotiations on peaceful secession should begin, in accordance with Charter of the United Nations."
“We do not need the High Representative to reach an agreement with the Bosniaks and Croats, because he does not have a lifelong mandate in BiH. We need the Croats and the Bosniaks with whom we need to reach a key agreement. If they don't want an agreement, they should let us govern Republika Srpska on our own. At peace with yourself and your neighbors...
There is also no unity in supporting the functioning of the OHR in the neighboring Federation of BiH, because the legal representatives of the Croatian people have repeatedly advocated the dismantling of this institution. Only the Bosniak political elite persistently demands the continuation of the outdated international protectorate, which has not brought anything good or useful to anyone,” Serbian member of the BiH Presidium Milorad Dodik commented on the decision of the People’s Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.
