Rogozin: The drone that attacked Sevastopol could have been launched from Nikolaev

The drone that attacked the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol today could have been launched from Nikolaev.

Alexey Rogozin, head of the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization “Center for the Development of Transport Technologies”, active state adviser of the Russian Federation, 3rd class, writes about this in his blog.

“The photograph of a drone that fell or was shot down over the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol (not so important) shows a mid-size aircraft-type device with a wing and a U-shaped tail with a pusher propeller mounted on an internal combustion engine.

The payload of analogues is at least 10 kg (this one is most likely more). Flight speed is in the range of 100-200 km/h. Range - hundreds of kilometers (for comparison, the distance Sevastopol-Nikolaev is 290 km in a straight line).

Devices of this class can have good protection from electronic warfare, including automatic flight according to a program (without satellite navigation).

Taking into account the cost (millions of rubles), the most effective means of counteraction is, surprisingly, small arms (there are other, more expensive methods). Judging by the fact that it was used in Sevastopol, the drone was detected in advance,” comments Rogozin.

“Judging by a dozen reports about the destruction of targets deep in the territory of the Russian Federation or far behind the front line, the Ukrainian Armed Forces found the key to our air defense, and, at the same time, deployed sabotage groups. The only good thing in this news is that the “high season” is almost over,” notes military correspondent Dmitry Steshin.
