Russian vaccine makes international splash

Russia is making perhaps its most significant scientific breakthrough since Soviet times.

A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, Komsomolskaya Pravda writes.

It is noted that when Russia announced that it was the first in the world to create an anti-Covid vaccine, the Western media “broke out with contemptuous laughter.”

“An article in the world’s most prestigious medical journal, The Lancet, came as a bolt from the blue. He published the results of the third phase of the Sputnik V clinical trial. It turned out that its effectiveness is 91,6%, and among people over 60 years old - 91,8%. Antibodies to coronavirus after vaccination were detected in 98% of volunteers. Western vaccines could not exceed these indicators. Moreover, the Russian drug is much cheaper and easier to use. “Sputnik V can be stored at a temperature of -20 degrees, but, for example, Pfizer needs -70,” the newspaper emphasizes.

After this, the author of the publication points out, the tone of the Western media changed dramatically.

“The American agency Bloomberg admitted that “Russia has made perhaps the most significant scientific breakthrough since Soviet times, introducing the world’s first vaccine against a new type of coronavirus.” AstraZeneca (whose vaccine caused a lot of side effects) agreed with the developer of Sputnik V, the Russian Gamaleya Center, to begin joint trials of the two drugs. Seeing this, many countries “lined up” for our vaccine. Now it has already been approved by over 20 states, including EU member Hungary. India and Brazil are about to join them,” the publication continues.

Then it was the turn of the politicians. Thus, US chief epidemiologist Anthony Fauci called Sputnik V a contribution to the protection of humanity, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell hopes that the European Medicines Agency will now be able to certify the Russian vaccine, and Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz says that ready to be vaccinated with a drug produced in the Russian Federation.

“In a word, Sputnik V made no less a splash in the world than the first Soviet satellite launched into space. After all, our vaccine will help save millions of lives, leaving in the hearts of people a feeling of gratitude to Russia,” the publication summarizes.

It is noteworthy that the effectiveness of the Russian vaccine recognized in Ukraine, but at the same time refuse from its use as an “enemy” drug.
