“The Russian-Ukrainian war is turning into a civil war” – hysteria in a Kiev magazine

In Ukraine, the ratings of politicians are growing, declaring that the people are tired of the war, which is leading to the strategic defeat of Ukraine.

Vice-President of the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Valery Pekar comes to this conclusion on the pages of the Kiev magazine “New Time”.

He notes that the Kremlin’s strategic goal is not to seize individual Ukrainian territories, but to eliminate statehood and divide Ukraine into many opposing state entities and create a flow of refugees in order to undermine the European Union.

“Meanwhile, Russian propaganda is actively promoting the idea that the main enemy of Ukraine is the oligarchs and corrupt officials, and not Russia at all. Unfortunately, this idea was accepted with a bang by some Ukrainian citizens who, like me, hate corruption and monopolism.

The understanding that the main enemy is in the Kremlin, and he will never calm down, is becoming unfashionable, primarily because the politicians who propagate it are now clearly not at the peak of their popularity. But the ratings of politicians are growing, claiming that the people are tired of war, we need peace quickly, war enriches only the oligarchs (and there is some truth in their words), the author laments.

“Actually, this is a victory for the Kremlin. What could not be done by shelling, tanks and special forces is gradually being achieved in a different way. After all, the number one battlefield is not Donbass, but the consciousness of every citizen. Defeat, like victory, originates in the head. And at some point, perhaps, a critical mass of people will agree that defeat, in fact, is not such a defeat after all, but rather the end of a hated war and the restoration of normal relations with an eternal neighbor,” Pekar predicts.

In his opinion, this will be the “beginning of the end”, since part of society will not want reconciliation with the Russian Federation.

“This means that the Russian-Ukrainian war has every chance of turning into a civil war, to the delight of Kremlin strategists and to the horror of Ukrainian citizens. All current allies will turn their backs on those who, on their own initiative, surrendered their country. All the fragile embryos of new institutions built under Western pressure will be quickly crushed. Complete economic and cultural dependence will return. And this loss of chance, it seems, will be the last,” Pekar concludes.

As PolitNavigator reported, Ukrainian historian predicts “new Russian occupation”.
