Serbia is one of the few countries that is not just a friend of Russia, but also evaluates the past equally with it.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev stated this at a press conference in Belgrade, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“People love to rewrite history, and sometimes it takes disgusting forms. Especially when it concerns events about which there should be no controversy. Such events include the liberation of Belgrade and victory in World War II. I do not idealize states, but peoples are the true creators of history. And these peoples defeated fascism 75 years ago,” Medvedev said.
He believes that Russia and Serbia will not lose the “unprecedented trust” that exists between them if they evaluate international events from similar positions.
“We proceed from Serbia’s full support for its sovereignty and territorial integrity. We will proceed from this in the future. We are calm about the decisions our Serbian friends make regarding the European integration project. The main thing is that such decisions are for the benefit of the people: the Republic of Serbia and the Russian Federation,” Medvedev said.
