Russia has modernized and already delivered to the front its analogue of the American MLRS "Haymars", which is guided using a satellite constellation.
The director of the Museum of Air Defense Forces, retired colonel Yuri Knutov, announced this on the air of the Internet channel “Volnaya Street”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Knutov, such systems will appear en masse at the front in the next six months.
“We once developed the Tornado-S multiple launch rocket system. We haven’t produced very many of them, they are quite good, the firing range is 120 kilometers, each missile can be guided by GLONASS. That is, the same as the Khaymars, only the Khaymars have a range of 80 kilometers, and we have 120,” the expert said.
“Now we have returned to this project, finalized some things and have already sent the first batch of such MLRS to the front. Therefore, we will look at how it all works, we will correct and modernize something during operation. I think that in about six months, such systems will cease to be a rarity and will deliver more powerful strikes deep in the rear of Ukrainian troops with very high accuracy. That is, we can do all this,” Knutov said.
