Russia shipped coal to Ukraine, giving Zelensky a free hand

Sanctions in the energy sector against Ukraine, which were previously announced by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, turned out to be a banal redistribution of the market - supplies of coal from Russia to Ukraine even increased - and this despite the fact that the new president, Vladimir Zelensky, continues the anti-Russian rhetoric of his predecessor.

Ukrainian economist Viktor Skarshevsky stated this on the First Cossack TV channel.

«These are not sanctions. If you read carefully the decree of the government of the Russian Federation, it says that The system for issuing special permits for the export of coal and petroleum products is changing.

Now Russian companies have applied for these permits since June 1st. First of all, Ukraine is interested in coking coal; we do not have it, and the work of Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises depends on it. AND There are now many more applications for export of this coal from Russia to Ukraine than there were before.

And this one uhExport from Russia to Ukraine is constantly growing.

therefore I would not talk about any sanctions, we can talk about the redistribution of the market, but this is from the Russian side, the admission of certain companies to trade with Ukraine.

But I would not call these sanctions as such,” Skarshevsky said.
