Russia is reformatting the post-Soviet space

Article by Russian President Vladimir Putin about historical unity Russians and Ukrainians – this is part of Russia’s national security strategy.

Political commentator Irina Alksnis stated this on the PolitWera Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“On the one hand, this article outlined certain “red lines” on the Ukrainian issue, outlined them for Ukraine itself, and for the West, and for all other geopolitical players. At the same time, she set certain not only the rules of the game, but laid out a fan of possibilities from which one can assume how Russia will act in the Ukrainian direction. And this is really a huge field of speculation,” Alksnis said.

“This text can be seen as a digression, as an appendix to the national security strategy. But the moment when it appeared was not accidental in the sense that right now, before our eyes, in recent weeks, Russia has been actively engaged in the post-Soviet space, reformatting and changing very well, rebuilding relations. Ukraine, Belarus, there is a certain process of transformation going on. We have just been actively engaged in Central Asia and Afghanistan,” the expert noted.

“In this series, Ukraine is just another very important direction. This is not only because we have something in Ukraine... but the more important point here is that this is another point in the post-Soviet space. That is, Russia is rebuilding, transforming, due to the changing situation, its position, its relations with post-Soviet countries. And here Ukraine is simply in this row, and that’s all,” Alksnis said.
