Citizens of the Russian Federation can buy Ukrainian lands if a land market is launched.
The Kiev online publication “Apostrophe” writes about this, noting that the ruling majority is going to provide for a legislative ban “on the sale of land to citizens of the aggressor state,” as is done in the law “On the privatization of state and municipal property.”
“But we are far from idealistic. Today there is no land market, but land is sold in disguise, using schemes,” Yaroslav Kardash, vice-president of the Association of Farmers and Private Landowners of Ukraine, tells the publication. “There are whole teams of lawyers who find loopholes in the legislation and carry out such operations. We will be bought wholeheartedly through dummies. We see what games Russia is playing, and they will do everything to undermine Ukraine’s food security.”
“Indeed, a full-fledged citizen of Ukraine can easily buy up some of the land, but then simply donate it to Russian business,” the publication concludes. - What's bad about it? In addition to the moral side of the issue, there is a risk that the Russians simply will not grow anything on the purchased land, thereby weakening Ukraine’s export position in favor of their own.”
