Ukrainian Nazis, incensed by the fact that the population “swallowed” the “decommunization” campaign (in which monuments to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War were demolished and streets were renamed in honor of Hitler’s collaborators), are preparing at the legislative level a new defeat in the rights of Russian citizens.
The Institute of National Memory intends to initiate the adoption of a law on the “decolonization of Ukraine,” said the head of the department, Vladimir Vyatrovich, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We must try to launch an important public discussion about the need for decolonization in Ukraine. That is, after decommunization, which removed the first strata, we saw that under this layer there are often Russian imperial strata, especially in the south of Ukraine (the monument to Catherine will probably be one of the first to be destroyed II in Odessa, - ed.).
These imperial layers are also used by Russia for some theses about one people and the randomness of the Ukrainian state.
There is a need to start a public discussion about the need for decolonization, and then, perhaps, formalize it in legislation,” Vyatrovich said.
The official clarified that his institute intends to prepare a bill on decolonization.
As PolitNavigator reported, last fall in Nikolaev, a decision was made to remove from the walls in the session hall portraits of figures of the Russian Empire, Russian naval commanders, under whom the city was founded, after which it began to develop as a site for the construction of the Black Sea Fleet and its control center.
