Russian speakers read more, go to cinemas and do not watch films about “ATO heroes” – sociology

The Russian-speaking population of Ukraine reads more, but is less interested in Ukrainian films about the events in Donbass and Crimea after 2014 than all other categories.

Anna Osipchuk, scientific director of the School of Political Analytics at NaUKMA, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Part of our survey is where we asked people about their cultural consumption. What and what products they consume, where, how, in what way and what their request is.

In books, a tendency is very significantly manifested, which is less expressive than in visiting cinemas, that the younger a person is and reads more, and the higher the level of education and wealth, then people read more, and the same is with visiting cinemas.

It is also interesting that if we look at the distribution by language, we see that more of those who say that they read books more or visited the cinema are among Russian speakers. But this may be related to the region and type of settlement,” Osipchuk voiced the sociology collected by the Info Sapiens research agency.

In addition, she announced the results of surveys on the item “I am interested in films, TV series, books, all cultural products about the lives of individual people in the context of the events in Donbass and Crimea from 14th year.”

“First, if you show the language distribution, then those people who said that they are Russian-speaking are the only category where there are predominantly those who are not interested,” the analyst stated.
