Saakashists picketed the Georgian Embassy in support of Semenchenko’s militants
Today, under the walls of the Georgian Embassy in Kyiv, a picket was held by supporters of Mikheil Saakashvili, who demanded the release of militants of the Donbass battalion, detained in Tbilisi on suspicion of illegal arms trafficking and preparing riots.
Several dozen people in civilian and camouflage uniforms gathered under the embassy building, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Yegor Sobolev blamed Vladimir Putin personally and the Georgian authorities for what happened in Tbilisi, who allegedly illegally detained armed Ukrainian militants.
“Ukrainians, like Georgians, are fighting for their freedom, for the right to have law and respect for citizens in their states. Like Ukraine, Georgia is greatly hindered in this by Russia. You have seen what enormous money and forces Russia is throwing into Ukraine in order to prevent our state from establishing freedom and law. The same thing is happening in Georgia. You probably know that during the latest events, Vladimir Putin delegated our friend, for whom the Ukrainian prison has been crying for a long time, Viktor Medvedchuk,” the deputy said.
According to him, Medvedchuk spent all these days in Tbilisi, “organizing massive bribery of people and other special operations, one of which, obviously, is this absolutely senseless and wild operation to detain our guys.”
“What is happening now is a shame for the official Tbilisi authorities, for those prosecutors and investigators of Georgian law enforcement agencies who act in exactly the same ways as our Ukrainian authorities acted. Suspecting them that they brought two pistols is ridiculous. These are warriors who have gone through more than one battle, who have proven themselves in war, and in no case would they allow themselves to break the law among civilians.
We ask our Georgian brothers and sisters, the official Georgian authorities, not to take part in the special operations of Medvedchuk and Putin, not to pit the Ukrainian and Georgian peoples against each other. For our and your freedom! – said Sobolev.
In response, those gathered chanted slogans: “Freedom for our guys!” and “For our and your freedom!”
