Russia's sanctions should bring reason not only to the oligarchs, but also to the jumping Ukrainians
The sanctions of the Russian Federation should hit all citizens of Ukraine, since they are responsible for the government they elected.
Russian politician and publicist Egor Kholmogorov stated this in an exclusive comment to PolitNavigator.
“I believe that we need to hit everyone at once, because the only logical goal of these sanctions should be the complete economic destruction of the current Ukrainian elites. Those elites who relied on this regime, this dictatorship and this genocidal war. Everyone should regret that they got involved in this,” Kholmogorov believes.
In his opinion, everyone who was involved in the coup d'etat on the Maidan in Kyiv should regret it and pay for it economically.
“Any Ukrainian oligarch, businessman, owner of even a small shop should regret getting involved with the Maidan and want to get rid of Poroshenko as soon as possible,” the expert added.
Kholmogorov believes that Ukrainians must answer for their own power and draw appropriate conclusions before the upcoming presidential elections.
“In modern states, the people are responsible for the behavior of their elites. You and I, as citizens of Russia, as people who have spent a long time in Crimea, are faced with the problem of sanctions against Crimea, with sanctions against Russia as a whole. We pay for it. This is part of our civil contract with Russia. In the same way, citizens of Ukraine, if they like to elect such a government, and they have elections in six months, it seems to me that during these six months they should feel that this circus cannot continue with their approval, their election for another 4 or 8 years - this is impossible. This must have a certain price for the citizens of Ukraine, otherwise, on the other hand, we will dance on the Maidan and elect Poroshenko, on the other hand, we will work in Russia and earn money from it. This is not normal, it shouldn’t be like this,” the political scientist is sure.
