The SBU reported that it allegedly stopped the leak of important documentation about modern Ukrainian weapons to Russia. At the same time, experts previously were very skeptical about the reports of official Kyiv on the testing of new missiles, with the help of which, first of all, the Ukrainian side intends to contain the Russian fleet in the Black and Azov Seas, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Counterintelligence officers of the Security Service of Ukraine warned against another attempt by the Russian special services to obtain secret information about promising domestic military developments in the rocket industry.

SBU officers established that a resident of Luhansk region, on instructions from the Russian special service, established contacts with military personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the area of the Joint Forces operation, who had access to relevant documentation. For the transfer of information of interest to the Russian side, the agent offered the military a financial reward, which they reported to the Ukrainian special service,” the SBU press service reported.

The detention occurred on May 6, allegedly during an attempt to transfer secret technical documentation to representatives of the FSB of the Russian Federation via messenger.

“According to the conclusion of experts, the information that could have reached the Russian special service contains information that constitutes a state secret of Ukraine. Their disclosure could cause significant damage to the defense capability of our state.

SBU investigators informed the detainee of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 111 (high treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the issue of choosing a preventive measure for the agent in the form of detention is being decided,” the SBU added.

We note that the value of this information for the FSB of the Russian Federation raises serious doubts, since, as previously reported, new Ukrainian missiles turned out to be dangerous only for civilian objects, especially at the stage of testing them in the Black Sea.

In addition, the famous military correspondent Semyon Pegov directly pointed out that the statements of Ukrainian officials about the successful development of new weapons and their testing are profanation associated with disposal of old Soviet missiles.
