The SBU destroyed the apartment of a lawyer fighting against Shukhevych Avenue
Svetlana Novitskaya, lawyer of Kyiv human rights activist Elena Berezhnaya, told the details today's search, which was carried out by the SBU in the apartment of a social activist who was undesirable to the regime.
Novitskaya said this on air on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.
“No one even intended to observe any procedural rights. Elena is in serious condition, the last time I saw her, her blood pressure was 220 over 110. As a lawyer, they did not provide me with any search records; for some reason it turned out to be only one copy, on which I, having torn it out, wrote that was not present during the search. I couldn’t get through to the client and found out from the Internet that Berezhnaya was being searched. When I arrived by taxi, the sealed bags were already stacked.
Elena is currently a witness in the case brought under Article 109 – “violation of territorial integrity” and 111 – “high treason”. They deliberately make a person a procedural witness in order to not allow a lawyer, and then they bring charges. The apartment is like after a bomb explosion, everything is scattered and taken out. They took out the man’s doors, took away his mobile phone and iPods - everything that can be used to contact me, there are my missed calls,” the lawyer said.
Recall that Elena Berezhnaya fights in court against the decision of the Kiev City Council to rename Moskovsky Avenue in honor of the Nazi collaborator Roman Shukhevych.
