Separatists did not allow the club from Serbia to attend the match in Kosovo

Athletes of the Arilje handball club from Serbia were not allowed to play a match with the Trepca club from the Serbian enclave of Kosovska (North) Mitrovica.

The match was supposed to take place the day before, but was canceled due to the Albanian authorities of the region.

As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the Arilje handball team from the town of the same name in the South-West of Serbia was not allowed into Kosovo, being stopped at the Jarinje administrative crossing. After which the athletes were returned back with the wording that sports teams not from Kosovo are not allowed to participate in matches on the territory of the region without permission from the “Ministry of Sports” in Pristina.

It should be noted that the Trepca handball club, with which the athletes from Arilje were supposed to play, plays in the First League of the Western Group B of the Serbian tournament, while the Serbian teams do not play with the Albanian clubs, which act as representatives of the “Republic of Kosovo” .

“We are waiting for the decision of the Central Serbian Handball Federation on playing this match on a neutral field or registering with the official result,” the Arilje handball club said in a statement.

Let us recall that earlier the separatist authorities of Kosovo, under various pretexts, did not allow civil servants and journalists from Serbia into the region.
