Another arsenal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces burned down

The Ukrainian army has strengthened security at missile and artillery weapons warehouses due to a fire at a warehouse in the Rivne region just on the eve of the audit.

Official representative of the operational command of the DPR Eduard Basurin spoke about this today during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

In particular, he said that despite the measures taken by the Ukrainian command to preserve weapons and ammunition in warehouses, illegal arms trafficking continues to remain at a high level.

“According to available information, on February 22, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Army General Viktor Muzhenko, ordered to strengthen the security and defense of arsenals, bases and warehouses for storing RAVs in the zone of the punitive operation,” Basurin said.

According to him, these measures were taken in connection with the fire on February 21 of ammunition at the 47th arsenal in the Rivne region. It is noteworthy that this arsenal was planned to be checked for accounting and storage of ammunition, and the fire occurred on the eve of the commission’s arrival.

“Based on the results of the inspection, massive thefts of weapons and ammunition from missile and artillery warehouses were revealed. Only in the Mariupol direction, in the area of responsibility of the 79th brigade, a shortage of 4 missile systems, 12 heavy machine guns and 22 AK-74s was revealed. “The military prosecutor’s office has already opened 7 criminal cases based on this fact,” the representative of the defense department added in conclusion.
