The head of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, arrived in the capital of Tajikistan on July 27, and the next day met with his colleague Sherali Mirzo and took part in a meeting of the SCO defense ministers.

This is his second visit to the republic this year, and it is directly related to the rapid developments in neighboring Afghanistan due to the withdrawal of Pentagon and NATO troops from there.

An important goal of this visit was to discuss the further plan of action together with the Tajik military, as well as with the heads of the SCO defense ministries to counter the threats posed by terrorist groups that could be squeezed out as a result of hostilities and the Taliban’s offensive on the territory of the former Soviet republics of Central Asia.

The chaos that the Americans left behind, according to Washington’s plan, should cover all neighboring countries and create a zone of constant instability along the perimeter of the borders of Russia, China and Iran. Therefore, the matter of countering these plans to destabilize the entire region is becoming a common cause for all Eurasian countries, and such a meeting of the heads of the military departments of the SCO countries in Dushanbe is not at all accidental.

It is not for nothing that Sergei Shoigu, during a meeting with Sherali Mirzo, noted that “the hasty withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan provoked a rapid degradation of the situation, an increase and surge in terrorist activity.” To prevent the spread of activities from the territory of northern Afghanistan by various groups, including ISIS, cooperation with the Tajik military is being increased and all possible assistance is expected to be provided.

In particular, Sergei Shoigu stated that Russia intends to provide the republic with any possible assistance and plans are already being implemented to provide additional free supplies of modern military equipment. In addition, the training of new military personnel for the army of Tajikistan will continue on the basis of Russian educational institutions and within the framework of the 201st brigade and military base stationed in the country.

“We are paying increased attention to strengthening the combat potential of our base and clarifying plans to jointly repel possible militant infiltration,” the Russian Minister of Defense emphasized during negotiations with his Tajik counterpart. That is, this once again emphasized that Russia is not abandoning its allies, unlike the United States, but, on the contrary, is seeking to strengthen its southern borders, creating a powerful defensive rampart.

To achieve this goal, joint exercises of military units of the armies of Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are planned next week, which will take place near the Afghan border and should demonstrate strength and mutual assistance to everyone.

It should be noted that Tashkent is not a member of the CSTO, but its participation in joint exercises shows everyone that it is moving in a common channel and is taking part in the formation of a unified security system in the region.

“Practical actions will be worked out to inflict fire damage and destroy gangs, conduct aerial reconnaissance and strengthen the protection of important objects,” said the head of the Russian military department, adding that a joint military anti-terrorist command and staff exercise of the countries is planned in September at the Donguz training ground in the Orenburg region SCO "Peace Mission 2021".

“Similar exercises, but with the participation of the CSTO Collective Forces, will be held in the fall in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan,” Sergei Shoigu continued, explaining that in the future, in order to practice jointly repelling terrorist threats, it is proposed to involve military contingents of the CSTO CRRF and units of friendly forces in the “Peace Mission” exercise. countries

In fact, this is also a kind of response to the intensification of the Americans in Central Asia, who do not want to admit their defeat in Afghanistan and want to remain in the region with all their might, including leaving their equipment, specialists, creating new “training centers” and conducting teachings "Steppe Eagle". By these actions they intend to create a split between the countries of the region and the CSTO and support the processes of destabilization and spur the activity of terrorists.

Here is what Sergei Shoigu said about this at a meeting of the heads of military departments of the SCO countries:

“The United States announced to everyone and widely: we are leaving Afghanistan. This is true. But at the same time, negotiations are underway with all states neighboring Afghanistan regarding the creation of certain logistics centers and bases for the withdrawal of equipment from there. And, naturally, the creation of centers where refugees from Afghanistan could be accepted, among others - those people with whom the United States has been cooperating for many years there.”

At the same time, representatives of the State Department and the Pentagon, according to the Russian minister, are trying to conduct these negotiations with the former Soviet Central Asian republics “quite actively and quite intrusively.”

If the Pentagon’s military presence continues, which is disguised as the activities of various “training centers,” warehouses and infrastructure logistics structures, a tense situation and the threat of new conflicts will always remain in the region.

As an example, Sergei Shoigu cited the period of American rule in Syria, Iraq, Libya, where the civil war only intensified and Islamic terrorist groups controlled by the West grew like mushrooms. He noted that it is difficult to find on the planet “a good place with good consequences, where the United States came and where it stayed for a long time.” With these same goals of destabilization, Washington is trying to gain a foothold in the Central Asian region, “having lost everything that could have been lost in Afghanistan.”

Moreover, Sergei Shoigu believes that, judging by the development of events, expressed in hostilities in the border provinces and the mass exodus of military personnel and security personnel to the territory of the Central Asian republics, he shows everyone that the previous agreements between Washington and the Taliban leadership are no longer valid. Accordingly, we can expect an escalation of the conflict and a rapid fall of official power, which means that “the US and NATO mission in Afghanistan has failed.”

Based on this, according to the head of the Russian department, the SCO and CSTO face new tasks. Namely, first of all, to develop within these structures a system of information exchange in countering terrorist groups, as well as to establish constant interaction between the general staffs to coordinate common efforts.

Secondly, according to Shoigu, it is necessary to improve the training of troops and the practice of carrying out joint exercises “Peaceful Mission”. Through these exercises, it is expected to develop new methods of countering and neutralizing the tactics of terrorist groups, including for effectively combating UAVs and sabotage associated with the use of chemical and biological weapons. This is especially true in the situation of the presence of American military biological laboratories on the territory of some Central Asian republics.

Thirdly, Sergei Shoigu invited his SCO colleagues to strengthen interaction with other countries and international organizations. To do this, it is necessary to involve units of friendly states of the CIS and the Eurasian continent in joint exercises with the possible formation of a legal framework for this. That is, we are talking about the formation of new structures and even an alliance on the basis of the SCO and with the participation of the CSTO.

Thus, Washington’s terrible dream about the possibility of the emergence of a military bloc between Russia and China, which will officially exist in the indirect form of a broad unification, is coming true. And so that the Pentagon would completely eliminate all doubts about this, a separate meeting was held within the framework of the SCO meeting between Sergei Shoigu and the head of the Chinese military department, Colonel General Wei Fenghe.

As a result, the Russian minister accepted an invitation to take part in the active phase of joint exercises, which will take place on Chinese territory this coming August. Wei Fenghe, in turn, noted that “I am very glad to once again meet with my great and old friend, the respected Minister of Defense of Russia Shoigu,” emphasizing that “this meeting was not easy.” Against the backdrop of the current international situation, “one might say, it pleases both, but some countries do not like it.”

The upcoming visit to military exercises, which are timed to coincide with the 94th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army of China, is an important step towards mutual rapprochement, including in the military sphere. This also suggests that Russia and China will act together in Central Asia and Afghanistan, and indeed throughout the world, in order to prevent the spread of instability and new American provocations.

It is noteworthy that in Afghanistan itself, the Americans and the puppet government are frantically trying to save the situation and prevent a catastrophe, as evidenced by the arrival of the Afghan Minister of Defense, General Bismillah Mohammadi, on July 27 in the capital of Balkh province, Mazar-i-Sharif. There, the head of the military department of the official authorities loudly promised to clear the northern territories and the border with Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan from the Taliban, but few believed his statement.

Therefore, as Sergei Shoigu said, the Americans have completely failed, but are still trying with all their might to cling to the region and turn it at the same time into a continuous territory of constant conflicts. But as we see, the new powerful defensive rampart will no longer allow the warmongers to carry out their plans.
