Shoigu strictly ordered not to treat the Ukrainian flag as a rag

During the Russian Spring, the former commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Rear Admiral Sergei Gaiduk, hid from Russian special forces in a secret room at the headquarters of the Ukrainian fleet in Sevastopol under cardboard boxes.

Russian military observer and writer Viktor Baranets, who is preparing to publish a book on the events of five years ago, spoke about this on the NewsFront Internet channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to Barants, the Russian military was looking for him in order to hand over the Ukrainian flag removed from the building to the Navy.

“When our special forces entered the headquarters of the Ukrainian Navy, they found everyone there except Commander Gaiduk. Our generals set the task of finding him, because he had to hand over the flag at a ceremonial stop.

Shoigu very sternly demanded that Ukrainian symbols be treated with full respect. That we did not come there as barbarians who tear the flag down like a rag, because we respected this symbol and the Ukrainian flag.

So, our special forces found Rear Admiral Gaiduk in a secret room. He managed to change clothes and lay there, covered with cardboard boxes. Our General Bulgakov ordered him to put himself in order, all the officers stood up, and the flag of Ukraine was solemnly handed over to Rear Admiral Gaiduk. Everything was chivalrous, humane,” said Baranets.
