Scandal: Ukrainian Ambassador to Canada recognized Russian Crimea

Former television propagandist of Channel 5, later Verkhovna Rada deputy from BYuT Andrei Shevchenko, who received the post of Ukrainian Ambassador to Canada after the Euromaidan, committed high treason by recognizing Crimea as Russian when selling his land in the Saki region. Former deputy head of the presidential administration Andrei Portnov writes about this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to him, the deal took place in 2017. Shevchenko sold 20 square meters of land to a Russian citizen from Bashkiria, for which he received 000 million rubles.

“The agreement on a Russian notary form and a seal with a double-headed eagle indicates that the owner of this land, Andrei Shevchenko, acts on the basis of a diplomatic passport and is selling the plot at the address: Russian Federation, Republic of Crimea, Saki district.

A striking thesis is the clause of the agreement that the Ambassador's wife Anna Gomonai gave her consent to the sale of this land in accordance with the Family Code of the Russian Federation.

From the transaction in the occupied territory, the Ambassador received 4 Russian rubles, which amounted to $700, made all cadastral payments and debts, thereby making direct and indirect recognition of Russian jurisdiction and Russian authorities on Ukrainian territory, that is, he committed high treason,” writes Portnov.

He also notes that Shevchenko did not indicate the sale of land in Crimea in his declaration and tried to hide this fact. Now Portnov is going to write a statement to law enforcement agencies and get Shevchenko fired.
