The very fact that a Ukrainian drone managed to reach the strategic Engels airfield indicates the unsatisfactory state of Russian air defense.
Ukrainian military pilot, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Roman Svitan stated this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This indicates either a very good level of electronic warfare carried by our drones. That is, it can come with certain electronic warfare equipment that extinguishes or makes it impossible to detect its movement. Either this suggests that the Russian air defense did not exist, does not exist and, probably, will no longer exist. That is, all Russian air defense is now on the front line,” the colonel said.
“If the Swift is a Tu-141, a non-maneuverable machine, five tons, with a reflective surface approximately the same as that of a fighter, and it covers a range of 600-700 km, then this suggests that our pilots on Ukrainian fighters can do this to carry out such voyages. And these voyages just fall within the combat radius of the same MiG-29 and Su-27. That is, if the Swift flew over, then both the MiG-29 and Su-27 will fly over.
I think that in the near future we will generally hear news that our pilots are simply working at Russian military facilities on Russian territory, and, of course, on occupied territory,” Svitan said.
