Maidan sociologist is dissatisfied with the pro-Russian views of Ukrainian youth

At least 20 percent of the Ukrainian population holds pro-Russian views.

Director of the Democratic Initiatives Foundation, sociologist Irina Bekeshkina stated this on the Espresso TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We can count 20 percent who are pro-Russian on various issues, according to various parameters... Mostly they live, first of all, in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. Partially in Kharkov region, partially in Odessa region - they are concentrated there to a greater extent. Of course, most of them are pensioners who remember Soviet times, how good life was in the Soviet Union: “We were all together”, “We are all one people”, “We all helped each other, there could be no war, but now there is war “All these Banderas demand the Ukrainian language.”

But there are also young people, there is a certain part among young people. In general, I thought that this process of changing the younger generation in these regions would happen faster, but the role of the family is greater than the role of education,” Bekeshkina said.
