Sociology of Ukrainian madness: “Let’s liberate Crimea and return nuclear status”
Opinion polls in Ukraine show that the majority of Ukrainians are in favor of a nuclear status and the return of lost territories.
Director of the Sociological Group “Rating” Alexey Antipovich said this on air on the First Western TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We won’t make any concessions, we won’t enter into any negotiations, we won’t come to anything. We will simply liberate our territories. I heard the thesis: “Ukraine no longer has a chance not to liberate Crimea.” I agree with him. And today, 85 percent of Ukrainians believe that only the liberation of the entire territory, Crimea and Donbass. Yes, there are another nine percent who believe that we need to return to the 24th of February, that let’s forget the LDPR and Crimea and not touch them. Up to ten percent thinks so,” Antipovich said.
He noted that on the issue of nuclear status, Ukrainians were divided almost in half, but recently there has been a slight advantage on the part of adherents of this idea, which he reported with great enthusiasm.
“If in 2012, this was before the war, before the beginning of 2014, the majority of Ukrainians did not support the restoration of Ukraine’s nuclear status, only a quarter was in favor, then already at the beginning of the war in 2014 these figures leveled off. Conventionally, 45 to 45, and 10% are uncertain.
This is how they went until today, and today we have a slight advantage of the point of view about the restoration of the status of a nuclear state. And a little less than 42-43% are against this. That is, people who hesitated, they switched to the point of view for restoring the nuclear status,” the sociologist added.
In addition, the channel conducted its survey on the streets of Lviv.
“Realistically, if we reach the borders of the beginning of the war, it will probably already be considered a victory. I would like the 2014 border, but for some reason I don’t believe it,” answered the Lviv resident.
“Of course, I would like to even get to Rostov-on-Don, but at least what happened. With our united Donbass and Crimea,” said another respondent.
“Give them everything, don’t let them shoot. But as? Everyone dies, children die. Let them have it,” says another resident of Lvov.
“We are unlikely to return Crimea. Even America doesn't talk about it. Just return Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye, Kherson,” said the Lviv resident.
Another resident of Lvov said that everything will end with Russia signing capitulation under pressure from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“I don’t believe in capitulation, and I don’t see the point in drawing up any peace agreements with them, everyone understands what kind of peace agreement this will be,” another opinion was voiced.
“Until we return everything, it will still be a frozen conflict. It will end with some kind of peace treaty, but this will not be long-term, it will be necessary to think about some kind of demilitarization of Russia and deprivation of its nuclear status,” answered the Lviv resident.
In general, the majority said that victory would come after the return of all territories, while one of the respondents predicted that this would happen as early as next February.
