Companions about the fate of Rashkin: Politically paralyzed or sent to prison

So far, there has been no progress in the criminal case against State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Valeria Rashkin, who was caught poaching.

According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, Nezavisimaya Gazeta was told about this by Rashkin’s party comrades.

As State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Yuri Sinelshchikov said, “so far we have not seen any movement in the case, nothing visible has happened.” He does not rule out that Rashkin may be left in limbo without ever bringing his case to trial.

“Unfortunately, there may well be an option when Rashkin becomes a hostage of the system. After all, the State Duma approved the possibility for investigators to ban certain actions through the courts. For example, theoretically, Rashkin could be prohibited from leaving his home, meeting with colleagues, or holding meetings with voters. And such restrictions will paralyze him politically,” Sinelshchikov said.

Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Sergei Obukhov confirmed that since last Thursday no movement has been noticeable in the case, but he believes that everything is ahead.

“There were no searches or interrogations now. While Volodin is signing the documents, while they are sent to the prosecutor’s office, perhaps the Investigative Committee will also take up the case. The investigation received permission from the State Duma, immunity was lifted, Rashkin himself confessed and even compensated for the crime by purchasing a new moose, so there is no need for law enforcement to rush. Therefore, the matter is under development,” Obukhov said.

At the same time, he ruled out the possibility of a protracted or stalled case.

“The repressive apparatus has been launched, the power machine has begun to move. Three investigators for particularly important cases and 10 ordinary investigators are working on the case; they will all need to report, showing their work. Therefore, the prerequisites are such that everything will go according to the most negative scenario - deprivation of a deputy’s mandate, and perhaps even a prison sentence,” summarized the Secretary of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Central Committee.
