Advisor to Yushchenko told how Putin set Brzezinski's brains before his death
Even the anti-Russian ideologist Zbigniew Brzezinski, shortly before his death, admitted the impossibility of integrating Ukraine into NATO due to the threat of a military clash with Moscow.
Former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Alexander Chaly stated this on the Nash TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Chaly, who served as an adviser to Viktor Yushchenko, told how in 2008 Ukraine’s receipt of an action plan for NATO membership was disrupted after a sharp reaction from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“When this happened, Merkel herself asked for a meeting with Yushchenko. She had a very difficult relationship with Yushchenko, but she herself asked. And Yushchenko, when he came to the meeting, he asked her: “Madam Chancellor, why are you against it?” Do you know what her answer was? It was very short. She said: “As long as your membership in NATO poses a greater threat to the security of Germany than your non-membership, Mr. President, I will a priori stand by my national interests.” And this is key, both from the point of view of European countries and the United States.
Let me remind you of a quote from the late Brzezinski. In 14, he was asked what strategic interests the United States has in the context of the situation of Russian aggression towards Ukraine in the Donbass? Brzezinski answered very simply at the Congressional hearings: “We have only one strategic issue - not to allow ourselves to be drawn into a direct confrontation with Russia.”
That is, anything, but no one will give consent in the coming decades for Ukraine to join NATO until we resolve the issue of aggression with Russia...
We are in military aggression with the second nuclear state in the world. How do you imagine that? That is, if we are NATO members, then all NATO members must take responsibility for this border. That is, they must enter into direct conflict with the Russian Federation,” Chaly said.
