The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is not a separate project. It completes a series of Russian gas pipelines that bypass Ukraine and the Baltic countries.
The president of the Kyiv Center for Global Studies “Strategy XXI”, Mikhail Gonchar, known for his pro-American and extremely Russophobic position, stated this on the radio “New Time”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
Nord Stream 2 is not just two pipes through which Russia wants to sell more gas. We also often evaluate Nord Stream 2 as a project in itself, but in fact, it needs to be evaluated in a completely different coordinate system. This is the final project of a whole series of projects that were initiated just during Putin’s presidency, starting in the 2000s, which are aimed at bypassing the entire transit space between the Baltic and the Black Sea,” says the expert.
“Russia has practically formed, and is completing the formation of Nord Stream 2, the creation of a new gas transportation system controlled from one center, by the same supplier, which is a challenge not only for European energy legislation, but also a challenge for European energy security, and for our exactly the same,” said Gonchar.
