The United States begins consultations with Ukraine on the implementation of the Minsk agreements – Nuland

Washington is considering the issue of possible involvement in the Minsk process regarding the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Donbass.

US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in an interview with Radio Liberty.

She claims that the Minsk agreements are “the only written document in which President Putin assured that he would leave Donbass” (in fact, there is nothing even close to that in the agreements. – ed.).

According to an American official, at the summit in Geneva, Russian leader Vladimir Putin asked the United States to join in attempts to implement the Minsk agreements.

“I think we will begin serious consultations with our Ukrainian partners on how they see the Minsk agreements and how they will move towards their implementation. And then we will see if there are potential grounds for us to be involved,” said the deputy head of the State Department.

“If we really feel that there is reason to see the implementation of the Minsk agreements in a way that is safe and acceptable to Ukraine - a way that will restore its sovereignty and territorial integrity in the Donbass - in return for some type of political autonomy for the Donbass and this will lead to the withdrawal of Russian forces and the puppets it supports—we would be willing to work on that,” Nuland said.
