The US escalated the situation in Donbass on the eve of the Putin-Trump meeting
The Minsk agreements, which provide for the granting of special status to the Donbass republics, are not a way out of the crisis in Ukraine.
This was stated by the special representative of the US State Department, Kurt Volker, who was quoted by the editor-in-chief of the Ekho Moskvy radio station, Alexey Venediktov, in his Telegram channel.
“The agreement signed in Minsk should not be called “peace agreements”, but an agreement on the division of Ukraine, which was accepted by Germany, Russia and France. The Minsk agreements are not a solution to the problem and actually provide legitimacy for the Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Volker said.
Let us recall that the Minsk agreements provided for the granting of a special status to the republics of Donbass, in fact, the beginning of the process of federalization of Ukraine. However, the agreements signed by Petro Poroshenko were never implemented by Kiev.
