Strelkov: A simultaneous attack on Donbass and Transnistria is being prepared
The only way to save Transnistria in the event of an attack on it by Moldova and Romania is to break through to the aid of Russian peacekeepers through the territory of Ukraine. Former Minister of Defense of the DPR Igor Strelkov stated this on the Internet channel Roy TV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If Pridnestrovie had a relatively neutral Ukraine behind it, I’m not talking about a friendly Ukraine, then, in principle, this issue could be resolved quite simply. While Russian military aircraft and cargo could reach Transnistria, in principle, Romania and Moldova were not ready to fight.
However, the current situation is such that Ukraine, naturally, has not allowed virtually any military cargo to pass through its territory for a long time, and in the event of a conflict, it will not allow anything through, not a single soldier, not a single cartridge, not a single military aircraft over its airspace.
This automatically means that in this case, if Moldova, with the support of Romania, takes action to “de-occupate”, as they call, Transnistria, then the Russian Federation will have only two options left - to declare war on Ukraine in order to break through to Transnistria and go to war with Moldova , to help his contingent, or to quietly wipe his nose and express some “deep concern.” All. There are no other options,” Strelkov said.
At the same time, he noted that simultaneously with the war in Transnistria, the offensive of the Ukrainian army on the LDPR may intensify - troops and equipment are already being drawn up to the republics:
“I believe that we are talking about a certain set of actions that add up to a single picture. In parallel with the designation of demands for the Russian Federation to “de-occupy” Transnistria and with these maneuvers, which are being carried out in Romania with the support of NATO, at the same time the Ukrainian Armed Forces began to pull troops and equipment to the contact line. In a number of areas, the truce has already effectively ended for a long time. These are the points where the truce was never actually observed. This is the area of Gorlovka, Donetsk airport, Kominternovo.”
Strelkov also did not rule out that Kyiv could simultaneously launch an attack on Transnistria and the LDPR:
“If Sandu comes to an agreement with Kiev, he himself will strike Transnistria and give it to Moldova. Moldova itself does not even need to take any action there. Moreover, if there is only Bendery on the right bank of Transnistria, that is, on the unprotected river, then the rest is a river, although for modern times what is a river, for modern technology. On the Ukrainian side there is generally a steppe and nothing else - I don’t want to take it. I don’t rule out at all that if Ukraine goes on the offensive in Donbass, they will simultaneously capture Tiraspol,” concluded the former militia commander.
