There can be no exchange of journalist Kirill Vyshinsky, detained in Ukraine, for Ukrainian terrorist Oleg Sentsov, convicted in Russia - Vyshinsky must be released without any conditions.
Director of the Moscow Bureau for Human Rights Alexander Brod stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The human rights activist recalled that Sentsov was found guilty by a court decision, while the consideration of Vyshinsky’s case is constantly postponed.
“On Vyshinsky, we expressed our position that an exchange for Sentsov is absurd. And Vyshinsky himself says that he is not a thing, not a bargaining chip to participate in some kind of exchange.
We need to seek the release of Vyshinsky. Not a single specific accusation was made against him, while regarding Sentsov there was a court decision based on specific material and evidence.
Therefore, it is necessary to separate politics from the real prisoners who need to be released,” Brod concluded.
