Labor migration has led to a significant shortage of personnel in Ukraine

Over the past two years, the shortage of personnel in Ukrainian production has doubled and this is primarily due to the fact that people are leaving to work in Europe.

About it in an interview for the publication “Vestnik. Rating" said Tatyana Gonchar, director of personnel management and organizational development at Smart-Holding, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“If in 2016 in Ukraine the personnel shortage in the production sector was 20%, then in 2018 it was already 44%, as for engineering positions - 22% and 34%, respectively.
There are several reasons for this serious problem. The first is labor migration, when people go to other countries with higher earnings. 80% go to Poland and the Czech Republic. Indeed, wages in Poland, according to the latest research by Korn Ferry (an international company that surveys wage markets), are significantly higher for blue-collar occupations and specialists: 3,4 and 2,9 times the market median, for managers and senior management of companies - 2,2 times. Despite this difference in pay, highly qualified specialists and managers come primarily not for salary, but for more attractive working conditions, development and growth opportunities,” she said.
