They want to turn the Turkish Stream into a European one
As part of the European policy for the distribution of energy sources, the EU needs cooperation with Russia.
Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras spoke about this in an interview with TASS and Rossiyskaya Gazeta, noting that the energy cooperation sector occupies an important place in Greek-Russian relations.
“It is known that since I became the head of the government, Greece’s position is the position of a multidimensional energy policy. Therefore, we support, together with other European countries, the belief that, as part of a multidimensional energy policy for the distribution of sources and flows, we must move to cooperation with the Russian Federation both on the pipeline and on transporting Russian natural gas to Europe through the Turkish Stream. This stream should become a “European Stream”, and not just a “Turkish Stream,” Tsipras believes.
He clarified that Greece is in the process of dialogue in the European Union on this issue and hopes for positive results in the future.
