Ukrainian figures close to the nationalist VO “Svoboda” wanted to bypass the uninitiative Kyiv authorities to import urgently needed coronavirus tests from China, purchased with money from local budgets, but the matter stalled at customs.
Svoboda leader Oleg Tyagnibok spoke about this on TV channel 112, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It feels like the authorities are exclusively concerned with statistics; we don’t see any concrete actions or reports. The president has generally turned into an air traffic controller, who talks about how many planes and when these planes arrive, although there is constantly false information - 10 million tests should come, but 250 come, and I don’t know where these tests are.
I know, for example, that Svoboda city mayors are constantly in contact with China and directly purchase tests using budget money or money from patrons,” Tyagnibok said.
“Ternopil and Khmelnitsky recently did this, so you know what’s interesting? Customs also obliged us to pay VAT for those tests that are urgently needed today for possible infected people. Can you imagine? Moreover, they were told that you never know what kind of laws are passed there - we don’t have specific instructions, wait a month, instructions will come, then we will probably exempt you from VAT. Can you imagine the idiocy in our country?” – the nationalist complained.
