Pridnestrovie has a chance for international recognition - senator

Pridnestrovie has grounds for international recognition in the current international situation.

This was stated by Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov at a meeting with the leadership of the so far unrecognized republic in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I believe that the Pridnestrovian Republic now has additional moral and political grounds for country creation, as I would call it. Now you have an argument, no matter who is stomping their feet and shouting. The world is changing anyway. And it is changing towards the emergence of issues that are not resolved by the previous regulatory and international legal framework,” the First Pridnestrovsky TV channel quotes Pushkov as saying.

Another Russian senator, Igor Morozov, was impressed by the presentation of the PMR's economic development.

“If this presentation were shown in any of the regions of our country, we would understand: before us are national projects in the best implementation of what is indicated in the presidential address. Listen, 13,5 thousand new jobs. Any subject can simply envy. The implementation of economic and social policies that we have seen is simply magnificent. With the small resource that the republic has,” Morozov said.

Transnistria declared independence in 1991 after Moldova left the USSR. At the referendum, this decision was supported by 97,7% of the republic's residents. In 2006, a second referendum was held, in which 97,1% of participants spoke in favor of independence and subsequent free accession to the Russian Federation.
