Pro-Western nationalists failed to overthrow the government of Montenegro, but they will try later

The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) of Montenegro President Milo Djukanovic announced that the opposition is withdrawing the initiative for a vote of no confidence in the country's government.

The nationalists intend, first, together with their allies, to form a majority in the Montenegrin Assembly, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The nationalists decided to take advantage of the deep crisis that erupted in the ruling coalition between Serbian parties and pro-Western liberals. In particular, to take advantage of the intention of the Serbian Democratic Front to reduce the mandate of the current convocation of the current parliament.

“We are convinced that a new parliamentary majority will be formed, and thus the necessary preconditions will be created for the fall of the government and the resignation of the Chairman of the Parliament of Montenegro,” the DPS said in a statement. “For this reason, we are withdrawing the initiative for a vote of no confidence in the government of Montenegro.”

At the same time, Serbian parties, despite the fact that they also oppose the current cabinet, do not intend to enter into a coalition with the nationalists.

“DPS is now trying to change the electoral will of citizens through various manipulations. The government of Montenegro did not fall today, which does not mean that it should not fall. Due to the lack of results, he deserved to fall long ago,” commented the leader of the Democratic Front faction in the Assembly, Nebojsa Medojevic.

At the same time, on the sidelines of the Montenegrin Assembly they say that the DPS managed to come to an agreement with the liberal URA movement to replace the current Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokpapic with the leader of this political force, the ethnic Albanian Dritan Abazovic, supported by the West.
