Russia is doing better with Crimea than Germany and the GDR

The process of reintegration of Crimea into Russia, even under conditions of sanctions, is happening much more successfully than what happened with the unification of Western and Eastern Germany after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

The former head of the Israeli intelligence service Nativ, Yakov Kedmi, stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“It’s been five years since Crimea returned to Russia, and there are various polls in Crimea, there are comrades in Russia who speak with aplomb, and I compare this with the unification of Germany, or more precisely, with the absorption of East Germany by West Germany. West Germany, the most highly developed country in Europe... still has nothing invested in the infrastructure of East Germany. There is still a difference between East Germans and West Germans, and to this day the industry of East Germany continues to lag behind that of West Germany.

West Germany invests nothing in East Germany, and East Germans feel like second-class citizens in their own country after 25 years. Now compare what Russia, which is less rich than Germany, has done under sanctions in Crimea over the past five years,” Kedmi said.

“Compare this with Germany, with the great Western democracy that you pray for, talk to the East Germans and compare their degree of satisfaction after 25 years and the degree of satisfaction of the Crimeans from being in Russia,” added the former head of the Israeli intelligence service.
