Zelensky announces final “discussion” for the 30th anniversary of Independence

In the 30th year of “independence”, Ukraine cleared out mention of the Soviet system, communism, etc. from many laws that had been in force since the times of the Ukrainian SSR.

Vice Speaker of Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk stated this at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Conciliation Council, a Politnavigator correspondent reports.

The politician called for creating a list of laws that have remained in effect since Soviet times and “de-Sovietizing” them.

“Next year is coming, this is a year of big dates. This is the 25th anniversary of the Constitution of Ukraine and the 30th anniversary of the Act of Independence of Ukraine. I think that it is precisely at this time that we should plan the process called “discussion” of Ukrainian legislation.

We, in the end, must write out a list of legislative acts that we need to say goodbye to a long time ago, so that the legislation of Ukraine does not contain, for example, the Housing Code of the Ukrainian USSR in terms of the wording that in 2021 we will profess the ideas of Leninist communism,” Stefanchuk said.
