The President of Ukraine Vladimir does not fully control government structures and is dependent on representatives of the previous government. That is why he succumbed to pressure from nationalists and canceled the teleconference of the Newsone and Rossiya-24 TV channels.
Evgeniy Filindash, director of the Ukrainian Center for Social Analytics, stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The case of the cancellation of the teleconference indicates that for now in Ukraine, the situation remains largely the same as before the elections, during Poroshenko’s presidency.
Attempts to find some way to compromise, to peaceful dialogue, are frustrated by nationally concerned representatives of the outgoing government.
So far, before the parliamentary elections, Vladimir Zelensky does not have full leverage to change the executive branch, the government, or to fully transfer the security forces under his control.
Perhaps he does not have a clear vision of how to fulfill the main promise that he gave to voters and thanks to which many voted for him - to ensure peace in Ukraine,” Filindash concluded.
