Statement by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov about plans to create the Ukrainian naval group in the Sea of Azov to counter Russian border guards does not pose a military threat to the Russian Federation.
This opinion was expressed by deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of previous convocations Oleg Tsarev in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
“There is definitely no threat. The Russian fleet, in terms of its military characteristics, is an order of magnitude greater than what Ukraine can field, but there is a risk of provocations. What is important for Ukraine here is not so much victory as the opportunity to stage a provocation. Ukraine now acts as a little bully who pesters someone big, and then his friends appear and say: “Why are you offending the little one.” Ukraine’s task here is to arrange a provocation,” Tsarev said.
