Ukraine is going down – Tymoshenko

The Ukrainian authorities are not even trying to save their country from a terrible financial collapse and tragedy in the energy industry.

This was stated by the former Prime Minister of the country, leader of the Batkivshchyna faction, Yulia Tymoshenko, during the conciliation council of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“It seems to me that we here have no idea what the situation is in the country now. I have a feeling that we are moving furniture on the almost sunken Titanic and performing some ritual actions that are absolutely not related to saving the country.

Do you know that, firstly, the revenue side of the budget is completely falling apart? Do you know that today the system of financial pyramids for borrowing money through domestic government bonds and through certificates of deposit at the National Bank is at full capacity? They build big speculative schemes on this, and no one says a word about it. Today we are in complete financial collapse, and no money has come from any IMF,” Tymoshenko noted.

She also said that the energy industry of Ukraine is in a state of complete imbalance.

“One after another, nuclear power plant units are being closed. Today, one after another, mines are closing. The collapse in the energy sector is of such a scale that in another week or two, we will have rolling blackouts in the country.

Our wages for power engineers and miners are now going into such a minus that we will have to save nuclear workers from non-payment of wages,” the politician summed up.
